I Can't Slow Down

We believe that we are the only ones who have this problem. We believe that no one knows we exist. We believe that we have to go through life struggling on our own. But none of these things are true.

God tells us that he is always with us, we are never alone. He will never leave us. What’s more, when we become a Christian, we become part of a community, a family that will always be available for us.

People need to hear this because we feel more isolated, more disconnected than ever before. Even in the midst of a tech revolution that has us FEEL like we are more connected, the truth is that the number of meaningful relationships we form has nosedived. We feel alone.

We are bombarded with anxiety every single day. We are overwhelmed by choices, by our own ambitions, by the demands of work, our spouse, the kids, and expectations. Of all the things we feel like we have to do in life perhaps the one that causes us the most pain is having to KEEP UP with everyone else.

But Jesus reminded Martha that simply choosing to sit at his feet was… better. Yes, there are things to do and yes, things might not all get done. But slowing down and spending time with God is better.

Slowing down feels like losing and we HATE to lose. We need to have this lie torn down so that we can experience healing from an anxiety that drives us like a taskmaster. Megan Marshman teaches.
